3Com® Voice Boundary Routing for Affordable High Availability
Voice Boundary Routing is a powerful capability built into the 3Com® VCX IP Telephony module. The VCX system's dial plan and user profiles are backed-up in multiple VCX call controllers. Call routing intelligence is deployed in hierarchical levels with local, regional, and global logic ensuring reliable, continuous service.
High availability is ensured in a variety of unlikely, but possible situations. Should the IP network fail, the local VCX unit can place outbound calls through the PSTN. In the event of failure of the PSTN, the local VCX unit is able to place outbound calls through the IP network. And should a VCX call controller fail, the remote IP phone can initiate outbound calls from its backup call controller. For seamless communications, user profiles are immediately available should the IP phones need restarting after a local call controller failure.
The redundant architecture of voice boundary routing protects the delivery of corporate applications and user services, ensuring business continuity.
