3Com offers the V7000 series of server platforms for large-scale, enterprise-wide deployment of IP telephony and convergence applications. To meet the reliability, security, and performance needs of large enterprises, these platforms utilize selected IBM eServer xSeries models. The xSeries 346 server pictured here boasts dual 3.2 GHz Intel Xeon processors with 10/100/1000 MB interfaces and a range of high performance RAID storage options. Each V7000 platform also includes an integrated firewall for enhanced protection against malicious attacks.
Modules from the 3Com Convergence Applications Suite are pre-loaded onto V7000 series servers, complete with a specially developed 3Com VCX Linux operating system (OS), designed to deliver further security and increased network management control. The OS is finely-tuned for the specific requirements of 3Com VCX applications.
V7000 servers can be deployed in many configurations to support a range of enterprise needs and applications. For small sites where maintaining low hardware costs is desirable, it is possible to run multiple applications on a small server such as the IBM eServer 306. For medium-sized sites, each application can be run on its own server to maximize performance. For very large sites, sub-modules of the applications can be distributed among multiple IBM eServer 346s to ensure the highest possible performance.
