Wireless VoIP For Enterprise Mobility

BlackBerry® 7270Blackberry enterprise devices enable communications like never before. The devices have grown in use to a reported six million users, mostly because SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) standards based applications have emerged that are making them high productivity tools to stay in touch and remotely conduct business transactions. SIP is the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) protocol that is driving substantial new applications for communications. Telephony, messaging, conferencing, contact center and mobility enabled by the best VoIP systems.

SIP applications allow open internet databases to deliver wireless work force automation, time and attendance, inventory look up and wireless order status applications via wireless devices. RIM and 3Com recently announced that the companies are working together to deliver a new Internet Protocol (IP)-private branch exchange (PBX) and wireless local area network (WLAN) switch. Combined, the RIM Blackberry 7270 wireless solution will provide voice and data applications to enterprise users over 802.11 WiFi networks. Because the 7270 supports WiFi 802.11 SIP based WiFi protocols supported by many businesses, coffee shops, airports and retail stores, retail district managers who travel all day from store to store could use their VPN enabled secure Blackberry 7270 to access their retailers VoIP phone system, as well as the data network for email once they enter the stores wireless LAN hot spot. If the cruise ship I was on 100 miles from Cuba had wireless WiFi internet access on the ship, and my fellow passenger had a new 7270 berry with the correct pass code to access the ships WLAN, he could have had full access to email and voice via the ships satellite link to the internet.

You don’t need a blackberry to use store based VoIP phone systems. 3Com offers a total of eight IP phones to complement its 3Com® NBX® and VCX™ IP telephony systems. 3Com selected Texas Instruments phone system-on-a-chip for it’s next-generation enterprise IP phones.
