Q: Why has 3Com decided to discontinue its HomeConnect® Cable Modem product line?
A: 3Com has refocused its strategy and will concentrate company resources on business networking solutions and on markets, technologies and products where it can lead.

Q: So is 3Com getting out of the Broadband business?
A: No. 3Com is still in the Broadband business, but is focusing on Enterprise, Service Provider, and Business marketplaces. We are discontinuing our Consumer line of Cable and DSL modems, but not our business-oriented broadband solutions.

Q: How long is the warranty period for the cable modem products and what will happen to warranties and customer support for discontinued cable modem products?
A: The HomeConnect® Cable Modems are warranted for five years. All product warranties and customer support will remain in effect for the duration of the warranty period as specified in the user documentation accompanying the product.

Q: I bought a GOLD/SILVER support plan when I purchased my cable modem on 3Com.com. Will 3Com still honor the GOLD/SILVER plan?
A: 3Com is currently honoring all support plans.

Q: I bought my cable modem directly from 3Com in June. Since the product is being discontinued, I no longer want it. Can I return it to 3Com and receive a full refund?
A: If you purchased your cable modem from 3Com.com, you have 30 days from the date of purchase to return it.

Q: I am leasing or have purchased my cable modem from my service provider (i.e., AT&T, Time Warner). Since it is being discontinued, I no longer want it. Will the service provider provide me with a refund?
A: It will be up to the individual service provider based on their own policies to determine whether or not they will issue you a refund for your product.

Q: If I keep my cable modem and something goes wrong with it, will 3Com still offer customer support and maintenance to my unit?
A: 3Com will honor all warranties and customer support until the end of the warranty period.

Q: Who do I contact for warranty and support on cable modem products 3Com is no longer manufacturing?
A: There is no change to the support contact numbers provided in the documentation that came with your product.

Q: Are you going to proactively let cable modem customers know that you are discontinuing the products?
A: We are posting a message on 3com.com and will be notifying our corporate customers via email.

Q: Will 3Com continue to post information on cable modem products after August 10, 2001?
A: For information, you can call the main 3Com customer support number at 1-800-NET-3COM or visit www.3com.com for additional information.

Q: Will 3Com be offering discounts on the cable modem products?
A: No. We will not be offering any discounts on purchases from 3com.com.
