What is a gateway designed for?
A:
The gateway is designed to connect a Local Area Network (LAN) that is running Novell or Windows NT IPX (Internetwork Packet Exchange) protocols with the Internet through an Internet Service Provider (ISP). The OfficeConnect gateway provides the translation of the IPX protocol to the IP (Internet Protocol) protocol needed to communicate across the Internet.

The OfficeConnect gateway communicates with your Internet Service Provider over services provided by telephone carrier organizations.

What can my SNMP Management software help me do?
A:
SNMP can be used to access the unit remotely over a LAN or WAN. MIB I and II are supported as well as the private MIB (RFC 1212) which is supplied in ASN1 format on the unit's utilities diskette. This MIB can also be obtained from 3Com's bulletin board service.
