What is a gateway?

The 3Com OfficeConnect Cable/DSL Gateway is used to share a single Internet connection between multiple computers. It also offers security from hacker by detecting attack patterns and blocking them. This offers small businesses the advantages of sharing a high-speed broadband without the cost of purchasing multiple connections.

Q:
How do I connect my Cable/DSL line to this device?
A:
The OfficeConnect Cable/DSL Gateway does not have an internal Cable or
DSL modem and will therefore not connect directly to your Cable or DSL line.
It is designed to connect to the Ethernet output from your Cable or DSL
modem. An Ethernet cable is supplied with the product for this purpose.

How many users does it support?

The OfficeConnect Cable/DSL Gateway will support up to 253 users on a local network.
