Product FAQs

Q: What is the Interface compatible with?
A: The 100BASE-TX Transceiver Module (3C16680) is designed for use with 3Com's SuperStack® II range of units. The Module can be installed in a suitable unit with a Fast Ethernet (100Mbps) transceiver port slot. Do not install the Module in unsuitable units such as 10Mbps-only hubs or Hub 100 units.
Q: What is the interface module used for?
A: When installed in a suitable unit, the Module provides a single 100Mbps Fast Ethernet fiber port. You can use this port to provide a high-speed connection to the rest of your network infrastructure, or to a local server or end station.
Q: How do I install the interface module into a unit?
A: Ensure that the unit is disconnected from the main power supply, and you are wearing an anti-static wristband connected to a suitable grounding point. Remove the blanking plate from the rear of the unit to reveal the slot for the Module. Do not remove any other screws from the rear of the unit. Keep the blanking plate in a safe place. If you remove the Module at any time, you must replace the blanking plate to prevent dust and debris entering the unit and to aid the circulation of cooling air. Hold the Module so that the text on the front panel is upright, and slide it into the unit, ensuring the edge connector is fully engaged. The front panel of the Module should lie flush against the rear panel of the unit. Fix the front panel of the Module to the unit using the two screws from the blanking plate.
