Features & Benefits

Enterprise-Class E-Mail Security for Small-and-Medium Businesses
The 3Com® Email Firewall family of products deliver affordable, enterprise-class e-mail security for businesses of up to 500 users. Specifically designed for small-and-medium businesses (SMB), 3Com Email Firewalls, powered by BorderWare, help you enforce appropriate e-mail usage policies, protect intellectual property assets, and prevent network downtime.

Simply install the 3Com Email Firewall behind the perimeter firewall and in front of your onsite Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, or Novell GroupWise mail server. Configuration takes less than 30 minutes, after which, all inbound and outbound SMTP traffic is automatically scanned for viruses, hacker attacks, and spam. Each 3Com Email Firewall License and Renewal License comes with one full year of automated updates via BorderWare SecurityConnection, to ensure your security solution can detect the latest virus signatures and spam patterns.

Robust antispam and antivirus tools include self-learning algorithms, subscription-based database updates, language-independent content filtering, and pattern-based detection. The e-mail scanners are powered by Borderware, a Certified Secure vendor of Common Criteria EAL4-rated e-mail, spam, and antivirus products for enterprise networks. Onboard virus protection is powered by the industry leading Kaspersky Anti-Virus engine.

All 3Com Email Firewall components—hardware appliance, user licenses, upgrade licenses, and renewal licenses—are sold separately, for the ultimate in pay-as-you-grow affordability and flexibility:

  • An affordable SMB solution, powered by BorderWare, that helps protect SMTP mail servers from being overwhelmed or shut down by e-mail borne assaults

  • Effectively protects against 38 types of attacks, including spam, viruses, phishing, denial of service (DoS) attacks, buffer overruns, inappropriate content, directory harvest attacks, trojan horses, self-propagating worms, malicious attachments, malformed messages, dictionary attacks, emerging zero-day exploits, and much more

  • Configurable, policy-based filters include whitelisting, blacklisting, pattern matching, usage policies, header analysis, content analysis, bulk-mail detection, Bayesian filtering, keyword screening, and attachment handling
