Features & Benefits

Advanced Enterprise-Class Workgroup Switching
The 3Com® SuperStack® 3 Switch 4400 family offers high-performance, feature-rich 10/100 Ethernet LAN switching options that range from a fully featured high-density model to an attractively priced entry-level model that can be upgraded to the enhanced feature set.

All five of this family's managed switches support hot-swappable resilient stacking, as well as Gigabit or Fast Ethernet uplinks via optional plug-in modules. One switch offers Power over Ethernet.

3Com SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 48-Port delivers high-density switching in an affordable platform. A massive 13.6 Gbps switching fabric enables forwarding up to 10.1 million packets per second (pps). Advanced QoS functionality and multilayer traffic classification permit prioritization of mission-critical applications and real-time traffic. 3Com SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 24-Port offers the same features as the 48-port model, with a forwarding rate of 6.6 pps.

The SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 PWR combines Power over Ethernet technology (IEEE-802.3af) with the advanced features, simplicity, and style of the SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 24-Port. This design provides power and data over a single cable to any compliant device, including 3Com NBX phones, wireless LAN access points, and Network Jack products.

3Com SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 SE 24-Port provides Layer 2 switching in an economical platform that is software-upgradable to 3Com SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 24-Port functionality.

Optional switching modules provide resilient high-speed connections such as Fast Ethernet, including 100BASE-LX (Ethernet in the First Mile), and Gigabit Ethernet copper or fiber links.

More Info

  • High-speed performance on all ports, with forwarding up to 10.1 million pps or 6.6 million pps

  • QoS functionality identifies and prioritizes applications such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, LAN telephony, and video streaming. Traffic-shaping features optimize network activity over WAN links.

  • Mix and match SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 48-Port, SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 24-Port, and SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 PWR units to create a stack with 384 10/100 Ethernet connections

  • Authenticated users can be automatically placed into a specific VLAN, restricting access only to the data needed

  • Secure Shell (SSH) encryption of login passwords, management VLANs, and management station "trusted IP address" lists help protect network from rogue management threats

  • User network login with IEEE 802.1X and RADIUS, combined with RADIUS Authenticated Device Access (RADA), based on MAC address, provide secure network access control at the network edge

  • Wirespeed performance on all ports

  • Combine Power over Ethernet and data switching in the SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 PWR, saving rack space and excess cabling, and simplifying installation of networking devices

  • Hot swappable stacking and resilient network connections enhance reliability

  • Spanning Tree, Rapid Spanning Tree, resilient links, link aggregation, and optional 3Com Advanced Redundant Power System ensure fault tolerance and smooth operation

  • Add optional switching modules to provide resilient high-speed connections, such as Gigabit Ethernet backbone links, or 100BASE-LX 10 links for Ethernet in First Mile over Point to Point Fiber (EFMF)

  • SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 SE 24-Port provides an attractively priced entry-level platform that can be upgraded easily to enhanced Layer 4 functionality in the future

  • Supported by 3Com Network Supervisor and 3Com Network Administrator
