Color Variations
Separating the Symbol from the Wordmark

Many companies' symbols are flat, two-dimensional graphic representations printed in a single color.

The 3Com corporate symbol has been designed to resemble, as closely as possible, a real three-dimensional object: three 3-D circles that stand out against their background.

COLOR VARIATIONS

The four-color symbol

Different versions of the symbol exist for different purposes. The four-color symbol is made up of percentages of the four process colors: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. This version of the symbol is typically used for everyday four-color process printed applications such as brochures and leaflets.

The grayscale symbol

The grayscale version is used for all black-and-white applications.

Line art version

The line art version is used only where the four-color or grayscale versions are impossible to use, i.e., rubber blanket printing, embroidery, and so on.

SEPERATING THE SYMBOL FROM THE WORDMARK

There are exceptions but be careful!

There are only two instances in which we will allow the wordmark to be separated from the symbol:

• On literature that has messaging devoted to corporate values, as in an annual report. This is described in more detail in the literature system section.

• On permanent signage that is on 3Com property.
