Fundamental Rules
The 3Com logo colors
There are three color variations for the 3Com logo, depending on the printing application. Printing applications include four-color process, grayscale, and line art. Refer to page 1.6 for more information.
Approved typefaces
We use two easy-to-read type families to communicate our messages: Frutiger and Apollo. They are used for printed and electronic media such as annual reports, trade show booths, and company literature. Times or Times New Roman are only used for word processing. Frutiger and Times or Times New Roman are the only typefaces used in all stationery applications including Microsoft Word templates. Refer to pages 1.17 through 1.20 for more information.
Typographic rules
3Com should always appear as "3," uppercase "C," and lowercase "om" when used in text. The only instance where "3Com" never appears in this form is when it is "locked-up" or is adjacent to the 3Com symbol; in this case, it appears as all caps. This lock-up is considered artwork. 3Com Corporation should never appear abbreviated (i.e., 3Com Corp.).
Reproducing the logo
Always use electronic artwork when printing the 3Com logo or symbol. Never reproduce the logo from laser print, color print, or facsimile copy. To get access to the 3Com logo downloadable files, please send an e-mail to: branding_questions@3com.com.
The trademark () and registered trademark (®) symbols
When the full 3Com logo is used, the trademark () symbol is used. When the elements of the logo are separated on the same application, a trademark () symbol should be used on the symbol, and a registered trademark (®) symbol used on the 3Com wordmark.
