Jean-Louis Gassée has served on the board of directors of 3Com Corporation since 1993. Currently Gassée is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Be Incorporated, a personal computing technology company, which he founded in October 1990.

Previously, Mr. Gassée held several management positions with Apple Computer, Inc. during his ten years with the company, and most recently was the President of Apple Products, the research and development and manufacturing division of Apple. Prior to joining Apple, Gassée was President and General Manager of the French subsidiary of Exxon Corporation.

He also held several management positions with Data General Corporation, and spent six years at Hewlett-Packard Company.

Along with serving on the board of directors of 3Com, Gassée also serves as a director of Electronics For Imaging, Inc. and Logitech Inc.

Gassée is a graduate of the Faculty of Sciences, a math and physics university in Orsay, France, and also holds a master's of science degree.
