James R. Long joined the 3Com board of directors in June of 2000.

He is the former executive vice president of Nortel Networks, a global leader in telephony, data, wireless and wireline solutions for the Internet, a position he held from 1994 to his retirement in 1999. Long also served as president of Enterprise Solutions for Nortel Networks from 1997 through 1999, president of Nortel World Trade—based in London and Hong Kong—from 1994 through 1997, and senior vice president of Nortel’s Asia Pacific division from 1992 to 1994. He also is a director of Cypress Semiconductor Corporation.
